Does McCain Want to Come in 6th in Iowa?

Advocates Eliminating Ethanol Subsidies that Spurred Industry Growth

Des Moines – Mere seconds after proclaiming that he wanted Iowans to be able to sell their agricultural products around the world, John McCain said that he would eliminate ethanol subsidies as president – crippling a vital Iowa industry. The leading renewable energy industry in Iowa would not be where it is today without these subsidies that allowed companies to grow without the constant pressure of meeting a bottom line.

“With statements like these, it’s no wonder that John McCain isn’t competing in the Iowa caucuses,” said Carrie Giddins, Iowa Democratic Party Communications Director. “Iowans understand how important government subsidies have been to creating and growing the ethanol industry that will help the state declare its independence from foreign oil.”
