EDWARDS TO ROLL ACROSS IOWA IN "MAIN STREET EXPRESS" FROM DECEMBER 10th – 17th

Will discuss how we can make our country work for the American people, not special interests

Des Moines, Iowa – On Monday, December 10th, 2007, Senator John Edwards will kick off an eight-day bus tour across Iowa aboard the "Main Street Express" to discuss how we can end the power of special interests in Washington and return our government to the American people – because America belongs to us. Edwards is running for president on behalf of hard-working families like the ones he grew up with in his small, rural hometown of Robbins, North Carolina. During this campaign, he has outlined a comprehensive agenda to build One America – one that works for families on Main Street, instead of just the powerful interests on Wall Street and in Washington.

“Today, powerful interests get everything they want from Washington, while families have to work harder than ever just to get by,” said Edwards. “That’s not our America. Growing up, I was taught to believe that the men and women who worked at the mill with my father were worth every bit as much as the man who owned the mill. That’s the America I believe in. If we join together, we can take back our government from the powerful interests and make it work for the American people again.”

During the tour, Edwards will visit Des Moines, Marshalltown, Clinton, Davenport, Muscatine, Iowa City, Grinnell, Indianola, Manchester, Elkader, Dubuque, Waterloo, Mason City, Ames, Colfax, Ottumwa, Fairfield and Cedar Rapids. On Thursday, Edwards will also participate in the Des Moines Register Democratic Presidential Debate.

Additional details of the events will follow in the coming days.
